I need to get back into the swing of things with regards to this blog- it’s my summer holidays and I have not written in here once! One of the reasons is that I’m lazy and the other iPhone Codemasters have kept me busy with iPhone application designs. I have never touched anything like this before so it has been taking me longer than usual. Keep your eyes open for the applications I have designed- Unfortunately I cannot show any of them just yet, or even talk about them becasue they are either still waiting to be approved by Apple (Slackers) or the developers are still in the process of developing!
Just found these two articles on ‘Eye’ I didn’t realise this was such a widespread issue! It makes me happy knowing that not everyone in the industry is sucked in by this jargon!
This week I have been on work experience at You Love Us and the senior designer helped me out with a lot of cool websites that I haven’t come across before- the one I used the most was Kuler and Logopond. I just sat there for hours flicking though all the pages on Logopond, some of the logos are really clever and it’s a great way to get inspiration. Kuler on the other hand is an awesome site- it’s such a fun and interesting way of looking for colours that match or even clash. If you click into the create page then you can decide whether you want to select from complementary to monochromatic colours. Very handy indeed!
Well, well, well… my very first blog.
I’m currently a student Graphic Designer at FUCA (Farnham University of Creative Arts). I haven’t quite decided what I will be using this blog for- most likely a ‘reminder’ of all the cool things i come across and I hope that it is something that you guys out there will find cool…
This is the first time that I have used Wordpress so wish me luck and hopefully a new fancy theme will be arriving any minute now. But before I go let me explain the reasoning for the name of this Blog. I am a Graphic Designer not a Visual Communicator a Graphic Designer- I’m here to make things look good for a price, and a few years ago i was watching some TV channel that was about an upcoming Artist- and if you think about what was actually said it was all Arty Bollocks that never really got anywhere, and that is where I first used the phrase and it has stuck in my mind ever since. Let me give you an example… Something like what the ‘First things First Manifesto’ is based on… ARTY BOLLOCKS.
Anyway apart from the odd rant I hope that this ‘Blog’ can be enjoyed by every one!
